Issue Position

As a father of three and a local public school volunteer, I have a deep appreciation for the dedicated and hardworking professionals working in our schools. They have a very difficult and important job -- and it is critical we ensure that both our teachers and students have the tools they need to succeed. However, education policy is very complicated and Charlotte's problems are not the same as Kinston or Goldsboro's problems. The closer education decisions are made on the local level -- the better. That's why we need to have an open dialogue with our teachers, administrators, students and parents about what works best in their classrooms and school districts.
